Serving a range of drinks, snacks and light lunches, this laid-back bar is situated next to the resort’s main pool, making it the perfect destination for casual poolside eating and drinking. The bar also serves bottled Monchique thermal water, which is said to have healing properties.

With over 20 years of experience in both contemporary cuisine and management, Luis Batalha heads up Monchique Resort & SPA’s restaurants and bars. Luís, born in Mozambique, started his gastronomy career in 1993, after having completed an array of cooking and pastry courses. Between 2000 and 2007, he won several distinctive honours, including Chef of the Year prize by the Helmut Ziebell Innovation. Chef Luís Batalha developed his hospitality career at several luxury hotels and resorts across both Portugal and Europe. He has a preference for Mediterranean flavours and have developed a strong connection with the southern region of Portugal, due to its wide offer of products and unique gastronomy. In addition to his passion for gastronomy, Luís has another interest: oil painting. His fine dining creations show a strong synergy between art and the technical craft and creativity. This sensorial attachment to art is transported to the tasting at every meal created by Luís Batalha.
