It is no coincidence that the Volta ao Algarve, which annually features the most exceptional international cyclists, has the climb to Picota as the most exciting moment of the 196 km first stage. #### Unparalleled nature Nature lovers will find, in the Serra de Monchique, an unparalleled biodiversity – both in fauna and flora – and extraordinary landscapes – from the streams that descend the mountain range to the panoramic view you have at some points of the Serra and where it is possible to have a 360-degree perspective. #### Road or trail? Anyone who wants to climb the Serra de Monchique by bike has two options: you can do it by road or, alternatively, follow one of the various off-road trails that exist, such as the Via Algarviana.
